Moving forward – literally

Placing the sold sign on our dream lot in Spring Creek Golf Club, thanks to Atlantic Builders!

I haven’t shared it on the blog here but my Grandmama passed away on her 88th birthday in June. While I was somewhat prepared or at least aware of the likelihood of her passing, the fact that it wasn’t a chronic illness or long term disease, but actually an untreatable medical issue that many consider ordinary and very treatable made me table the thought of our time with her as limited. The week of hospice care that she received at home was such a blessing in the grand scheme of things – she got her final wishes honored. I hope in the future to share our family’s experiences with you all. The devastation has left me broken, sad, and my daily mantra now is that life can change in an instant. Embracing that attitude has inspired M and I to move forward on plans we have tabled again and again from before and since Margaret was born – move! We deserve this opportunity and so does our daughter (and any other additional future children I am lucky enough to have).

We will be moving to the beautiful community of Spring Creek – currently between our existing home and Charlottesville, so more to the west. It’s a well-established gem in Central Virginia and feel so lucky that soon a slice of it will be ours. Our home is to be built by Atlantic Builders, a wonderful home builder from this region that is highly respected by so many in the industry.

Now we start the fun of preparing our house to be listed on the market. If we are lucky, it will sell around or possibly even before our tenth anniversary of ownership! We are so excited for this change, and although it will be a busy several months coming up, it’s a welcome distraction during this time as I (and we) move forward. I have wanted this update for our life for ages now, and it makes me so happy to imagine our current home going to a wonderful family, couple, or young professional… and our new home being made exactly how we want it!
