I hope you all have had a wonderful summer so far! Things here have been busy busy busy. I’m always hoping for a spare few hours of sunlight everyday, whether to stretch out on the lounge on the deck, enjoy a glass of wine with friends or go to the rooftop pool at ACAC. That said, I’ve gradually come to understand how precious one’s skin is. From multiple family members with various cancers, to my own skincare scares, I know it’s all up to me to protect this important, environmental barrier for the body! You’re probably not all that surprised that I’m doing another great post featuring Elements Beauty Shop, the local woman-owned business that carries unique products with no animal testing.

My summer skincare routine is simple – same routine that I use in the cooler months – just with a slightly altered product line due to the change in humidity, temperature, and sun exposure. For me, this means being cognizant about oiliness and making sure to avoid that if at all possible. Here’s a great local news clip from this Spring, when Jeannie of Elements Beauty Shop was on CBS Virginia This Morning – giving great tips on skincare and seasonal changes:

So, what is my summer skincare routine? I’ve been so happy with my Erno Lazslo and Peter Thomas Roth items. It may be a bit product-heavy but I’ve certainly been pleased with my skin’s transformation! I have a cleansing routine and a moisturizing routine, both of which adapt as the season progresses.

My cleansing routine is actually two separate programs. Twice a week (1x a day), I use the Peter Thomas Roth Anti-Aging Cleansing Gel. The remaining days of the week I use the Erno Laszlo Starter Kit. As I’ve mentioned previously, this three-item kit is a wonderful introduction to the entire Erno Laszlo line. These products let you start with Laszlo’s famous “The Ritual” – a mixture of a cleansing oil, specialized cleansing bar for face, and a light controlling lotion (aka moisturizer). The steps and the way to execute this process is key to getting the skin you deserve. These beauty products have been used for over 50 years by Hollywood’s elite. These products have helped my normal/combination skin control oil, minimize pores around my nose and cheeks by the nose, and improved overall skin texture.

My moisturizing routine is also two separate programs. For the AM hours, I use the Erno Laszlo Oil Control Day Lotion – and just make sure to use a blotting paper on my face and neck twice a day – once around 10AM and the second time at around 4 or 5PM. I enjoy using the Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Power C x 30 Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Mask twice a week at bedtime. If I apply it more frequently, my skin gets greasy because it is a dense, rich cream. Twice to three times a week seems to be ideal for me. The rest of the week, I apply the Erno Laszlo Phelityl Night Cream. This night cream plumps my skin without adding any oil to my complexion.
