Moore and Giles spring 2013

I received the most recent Moore & Giles catalog in the mail a couple of weeks ago, and I thought I would show you some of their highlighted items for this season. You may remember I wrote about them last May. This leather goods company dates back to 1933, and exists in the greater Lynchburg, Virginia, area – technically in Forest, which is where Thomas Jefferson’s retreat from society was located, called Poplar Forest.

The Minor small upright briefcase (12″L x 13″H x 3″W) is the perfect bag for a woman who likes options – short handle or long strap? Maybe you use an iPad instead of a laptop, and you need something you can carry items in like a portfolio or notepads. This bag is perfect for you! I love it in Tuscany Steel, $615.

Anyone getting married soon? A classic and elegant groomsmen gift would be the Donald dop kit (9″L x 8″H x 3.5″W). It is available in five colors. Really, any gentleman would love to recieve something like this kit. But a woman who has an affinity for leather cases when travelling would love it as well. The titan milled brown, brompton brown, and american bison would coordinate beautifully with a Louis Vuitton duffle or trunk. I love the rich pebbled texture of brown of the American Bison kit, $135.

Do you enjoy going picniking in the warmer months? Use the Petty bottle bag from Spring through Fall to carry water or wine on your next picnic (9″L x 14.5″H x 4″W). It uses Martexin™ Original Wax cloth and has padding for two bottles (if you need a larger bag the Belle picnic tote works wonderfully). The interior padding is removable if you want to fit more items within it, such as wrapped panini sandwiches, baguette and cheese, etc. I love the waxwear rangertan/titan milled brown leather the most, $275.

Are you soon celebrating an anniversary or birthday of a significant other? Maybe wanting to mark the occasion with something incredibly special, as he/she plans to do for you? Consider a new wallet made of something luxurious, like tan alligator. Moore & Giles has the bi-fold wallet (4″L x 3.5″H). The color is gorgeous, the kind of wallet you would see in Italy. This wallet comes in eight colors, can be monogrammed, with six card pockets and two slip pockets, $550 as shown, but starts at $195.

Lastly, a bag perfect for a graduate student (especially a law school student), a professional who can use a portfolio-style, slim briefcase for work. A writer would love this bag as it would fit legal-sized pads. A professor or teacher could easily carry exams to grade using this bag. The colors are simple, details are unfussy. The Wilson slim briefcase opens and closes with a buckle (16.5″L x 13″H x 1″W). The briefcase does has an interior zip, as well as business card and cell phone pockets, $515. I love the two colors, but I wonder how it would love in an Hermes-esque orange hue, or maybe a same-shade briefcase and buckle. I feel like the light contrast in shades that do exist on this bag make it a bit more casual than it ordinarily would be… but that is just my opinion. It is still well-made, handsome, and incredibly useful.
